CLAP FOR THEM
This drawing portrays a key worker (a nurse) in PPE gear, sitting in a martini glass filled with hand sanitiser. The composition came from the concept of people appreciating key workers only at moments when their help is needed the most, (in this case, due to the current pandemic). However, once this period ends, people will forget the hard efforts of these key workers who will still work in high pressure environments, many still working with little pay, and not receiving as much credit. This is similar to people attending burlesque shows and appreciate the dancers performing during the show, however no one speaks of them outside of that context.
Acrylics and ballpoint on paper.
I sketched this drawing, then painting a base layer with acrylics. It is then outlined and further details/dimension with ink.
