Prism Pop’ Series

Prism Pop’ Series

HALLE CASTILLE

Today would have been the day I installed my Senior Exhibition in the Roy C. Moore Gallery on campus. 🎨
.
My heart is heavy as I write this. I put everything into making this series. 💔
.
Of course, I know that this is bigger than me. All I ask is that you share this with your friends and followers. Don’t forget to like and comment. Please help me get my artwork seen. 🌈
.
The fate of my show is uncertain as of now due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I will continue to update my account as I know more information. ⚠️
.
Until then, the show must go on! Coronavirus can’t kill art. So, I present to you my Capstone Collection. 💥
.
Prism Pop! is a series of sculptures that explores the emotional experience of anxiety through prismatic colors and geometric shapes. The series is made up of 8 sculptures created from over 200 paper pyramids. 🔰
.
I found the act of folding these triangular shapes to be incredibly meditative. My anxiety feels like a dark cloud hovering above me at all times. This idea is mimicked in the pyramid forms which create strong shadows implying deception of value. 👤
.
My battle with anxiety has taught me that light can’t exist without darkness. The central prism sculpture symbolizes these struggles, while the mobile overhead is a depiction of my spiraling thoughts. 💫
.
Similar to a prism breaking up light into its constituent colors, the prismatic colors of the relief sculptures represent the way I take in and compartmentalize my personal experiences. 💢
.
I have come to realize that I am a collection of all of these experiences, the good and the bad, the colorful and the dull, and the light and dark. ◑
.
Anxiety is at an all time high as we face these uncertain times. Please be nice to one another. We are all struggling right now. 💞
.
Remember we’re all in this together. Stay healthy, stay inside, and wash your hands! 👏.Thank you for your consideration,Halle Castille @hallescometdesigns
